About

The part of the job nobody warned you about

I work with authors and event teams who are very good at the thing they are known for and quietly buried under everything that comes with it. I take the everything.

Publishing has its own language. Submission windows, ARCs, comp titles, a signing line thirty people deep that is moving far too slowly. I already speak it, so you never have to explain why something matters before I can do it properly.

I read constantly, mostly the books I am helping bring into the world. That is not a line for a website. It is why I notice when a date quietly slips, when a reader has emailed twice, and when the thing three weeks out is about to become this week’s emergency.

I also find spreadsheets soothing and an empty inbox genuinely thrilling, which probably says something unsettling about me. I have made peace with it. It does mean your inbox is in good hands.

Services

What I take off your desk

Everything that happens between the writing and the reader. Pick what you need and change it whenever the work changes. It all comes out of the same set of hours.

Your whole operation on one board. I build and run Trello or ClickUp so deadlines, releases and handoffs live somewhere other than your head, which is a beautiful place but a terrible filing system. You get to see at a glance what is moving and what is quietly stuck.

Inbox, calendar, scheduling, travel, invoicing, and the fifty small things that keep sliding to the bottom of the list. I read everything and bring you only what genuinely needs you, which is almost always less than you are bracing for.

Posting, scheduling, captions and engagement across your platforms, in your voice. When the algorithm shifts or a trend turns, I will tell you, and we work out the move together instead of panicking separately.

A ten day release package at $125, so the whole countdown is designed before it starts. Daily graphics for a month at $150, with your prompts and design directions supplied. Three social media templates, blank and branded, in your colors and style at $50. A set of seamless Instagram carousel images at $40. 3D mockups at $5 each, and a Facebook cover at $15.

Graphic packages sit outside the monthly packages and are quoted on their own. They are booked onto the calendar in advance: two weeks’ notice for a release package, one week for anything smaller. Tell me your release date early and we will work backwards from it.

Written, designed, scheduled and sent, plus list care and replies to readers, so nobody waits three weeks for an answer and quietly decides you are a snob.

Hooks, tropes, quotes and Kindle screenshots pulled from the manuscript and handed over ready to post. You already wrote the good lines. I go back in and find them.

Forms, team setup, distribution, reminders and review tracking, so you know who has read it, who has posted, and who was never going to.

Setup and day to day running of the group, with the graphics and prompts your team needs to actually show up for you. A street team with nothing to do goes quiet fast. I keep them fed.

Outreach, gifting, scheduling and the follow-up nobody enjoys, with the readers and creators who actually move books in your genre.

Venue and vendor coordination, table logistics, travel, the run of the day, and hands on site when you need them. I have wrangled enough signing lines to know exactly where they go wrong, which is usually somewhere around person forty.

An honest read with written feedback, delivered before the book is out in the world rather than after a stranger tells you in a review. I would much rather be the one to say it.

They must be scheduled in advance, two weeks for a release package and one week for anything smaller. Larger events and anything outside these hours are quoted on a call. All prices in USD.

How it works

From first email to off your plate

01

Say hello

Send the form at the bottom of this page and tell me what is piling up. It does not need to be tidy. The mess is rather the point. I reply within one business day.

02

A call

Thirty minutes, no charge. We work out what would actually help and whether I am the right person to do it. Sometimes I am not, and I will tell you so.

03

Contract and invoice

A proposal setting out the package, the hours and exactly what they cover, with a contract and the first invoice. Work begins once it is signed, so nobody is guessing about anything.

04

Handover

I set up shared access, learn your systems and your voice, and write down how you like things done, so you only ever have to explain it once.

05

Ongoing

Weekly check-ins and one standing rule. If something needs a decision only you can make, you will hear from me. Everything else is simply handled, quietly, while you write.

Kind words

I genuinely could not run Hot & Steamy Book Events without Laura Luna. She is dependable in a way that lets me stop checking, but what sets her apart is how perceptive she is. She doesn’t just conquer the task list like a boss, she anticipates what her clients need before they know they need it and looks out for them at every turn.

She can learn just about any skill you put in front of her, and she picks it up fast. A lot of assistants say they’re readers. Laura is a real-life book dragon who knows this industry inside and out, which means she understands the why behind everything we do, not just the what.

Between coordinating, scheduling social media, and wrangling live events, Laura executes book signings like she was born for it.

And on top of all of it, she is kind and compassionate and just a genuinely good human. I will always recommend Laura to anyone who wants an honest, incredibly intelligent, trustworthy person on their team and by their side. If you get the chance to work with her, take it.

Sasha Marshall Hot & Steamy Book Events

I have had the greatest honor to employ Laura as my Personal Assistant. But I have to say, calling her only a personal assistant is not accurate. It does not convey how much Laura goes above and beyond for her clients, and how I and I’m sure all of her other clients would be lost without her.

Laura has helped me get a handle on my calendar by taking over my scheduling, has written and designed my newsletters, AND she assists me with my social media!! I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for all of Laura’s help.

Not only is she the best at what she does, but she truly cares. She takes the time to really sit and get to know you, your needs, and your vision and helps hit the mark EVERY TIME as a result. Her advice has brought me success every time.

She has this all-encompassing knowledge and using this to help business owners of all sorts, and I am honestly so lucky to have her as my PA.

If you’re wondering whether or not you should book her services, the answer should be a RESOUNDING YES!!! You will never regret it.

La Sirena Selene Owner, La Sirena’s Botanica Congo

I’d had brief interactions with Laura before I agreed to hire her, and admittedly, I had a few days of “what did I get myself into?” once we came to an agreement, but Laura came in and hit the ground running. Not long after we started I had a release and, with her help, it was the best release ever. I can say, without a doubt, I never ever want to do another release without Laura by my side. She thinks of things I don’t, reminds me of things I forgot, and does the crap I don’t like to do, which gives me more time to do what I should be doing. Laura gave me that extra bit of marketing and promo support that I didn’t get elsewhere — I know, without a doubt, I reached new readers because of the work she did and her connections.

Randi Perrin Author

For years, Laura has been my PA. Whether it’s creating videos, posting, or anything on social media, she steps up and takes care of it like the professional she is. She’s honest when she beta reads for me, offering helpful feedback with every book. When things change, like algorithms, trends, etc., she’s right there to help figure out a direction to move in that would be beneficial. When I need to shift priorities or change strategies, she’s open to discussing what would work best for both of us and where time would be best spent. Laura is an absolute pleasure to work with.
